President's Report

With no more seminars this year, we have left the door open, financially speaking, for you to travel to Sydney for the conference. Conferences are a great way to get an overview of what’s happening in the homoeopathic world. It’s also a great way to be inspired, to remind yourself why you chose to become a homoeopath and to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of like minded people. It gives us that boost we all need occasionally, to keep us on track.

It can be too easy to slip and drown in the negativity which surrounds us daily. Negativity towards homoeopathy around the world really needs to be put into context. Whenever there is a change afoot, the old has to be swept away. This invariably creates a lot of dust, or negativity. However, once that has settled, there is now room for the new to come in. Stay focussed on what you know homoeopathy can and does do daily. The world at large wants this, and just need to get in touch with you to find it. Look beyond the dust being stirred up, look to what the future will bring with your help. While winter fades into spring, now is the time to promote our great spring allergy remedies.

People are converted to homoeopathy in baby steps - give them something that works on an acute level and they’ll be back for bigger things later.

Review of Peter Tumminello Seminar 4 to 6 July 2008:
Twelve Jewels and Colour Prescribing in Homoeopathy

I am still quite “pumped up” writing the review on Monday morning after the seminar which is quite surprising considering how long it took for me to drop off sleep last night. Maybe it was the mystery substance I and 17 other people took at the meditative proving on Friday night and further doses over the weekend which caused my insomnia or perhaps just the simulation of the whole weekend. Who knows!

On Saturday morning we watched a video case presentation of client who admitted she and her husband both felt like caged animals which led us into Emerald and its theme of “inner strength contained.” Peter then summarised the negative and positive mental and emotional potentials of Emerald followed by its characteristic physical symptoms concluding with some differential diagnosis remedies. Peter’s use of video cases to introduce the more commonly used gems was a very potent teaching technique. The characteristics and qualities of gems as a group including features, themes, imagery, spiritual dimension, actions and chakras were explained.

We watched selected excepts from a DVD called Opal Fever featuring street kid Steve from Sydney making a proposed brief visit to his father Darren in the opal fields. However, Steve gets caught up in the search for and excitement of finding precious gems and is still there 16 years later. Small hand worked claims often within a hand throw of each other have in many cases yielded their owners over the years, returns of between $500K and $1.5M. Peter uses the film to illustrate the correlation of strong personal and material themes with people’s wider need to be able to align forces impacting upon their lives and in their higher need for spiritual understanding, themes also contained within the gem series.

On Sunday gems worn as jewellery were considered an aid to remedy selection. Peter also explained the powerful nature of gems and how an inappropriate choice could have negative consequences for the wearer. I was particularly entranced by a personal account of how a Carnelian bracelet made by Peter from stones purchased for $12 had a huge positive impact when worn by his son-in-law, completely turning around the way he viewed his world without ever taking remedy. Amazing! Peter discussed gem qualities, size, and choice, jewellery selection based on Ayurvedic astrology and how he made the remedy tinctures.

In the afternoon we learnt of the work of German homoeopaths who since 1985 have been identifying the colours associated with in excess of 500 remedies. A good colour selection is considered the equivalent of a mental general. Colour selection is considered confirmative rather than diagnostic. The cream on the cake so as to speak was Peter’s demonstration of bio-energetic feedback (kinesiology) techniques to test homoeopathically selected and unique muscles pertaining to the final remedy selection. Peter explained he has been learning these techniques from Dutch homoeopath and author Dr Filip Degroote. Without any shadow of doubt another benchmark and world class seminar delivered by Peter Tumminello.

President's Message: Issue 95 March 2008

Cancer seems to be in the forefront at the moment, with the recent seminar from Dr Ramakrishan and the Cancer Support Association of WA getting in touch with us. If you don't know about them, you need to.

It has the most amazing website, full of informative articles to help our patients make informed decisions. The association contacted Sally, our hardworking secretary, after the seminar with the following information. Make sure all your cancer patients get this information. The publications are available without being a member, but they are well worth supporting.

Some must read articles are in the following publications: 04/01/2006, 08/01/06, Sept 2006, 02/01/07, 05/01.06, 01/01/07. They currently have a project collecting old mobile phones for recycling and to boost their income. I would like to suggest that we have a collection site of old phones and donate them. Would anyone like to be in charge of this?

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Kylie Dalton and I am the Senior Manager at Cancer Support Association of WA. I have been working with CSA for a year now and recently I have taken on the project of creating a resource and practitioners reference guide for our CSA members. This list will be supported by us and as we get a lot of queries from our patients in regards to Homoeopathic services, I thought I would start with the Australian Homoeopathic Assoc. We would also like to develop a practitioner’s guide that has experience with dealing with cancer patients, their carers and families. If you feel you would like to be on this list or have products and services you would like to offer our centre and members then please email on the address below. I look forward to going through and finding very supportive and caring Homoeopathic Therapists out there in Perth.

Kind regards, Kylie Dalton Senior Manager – Marketing Business Development Cancer Support Association of WA inc, 80 Railway Street, Cottesloe, WA 6911 Ph: (08)93843544, Fax:(08)93846196, Mob: 0414671318, E: kylie@cancersupportwa.org.au, www.cancersupportwa.org.au

President’s Report: Issue 96 May 2008

Around the world, WHAW is being taken very seriously. Homoeopaths across the globe set aside a few hours, on one day a year, to promote homoeopathy. It's our chance to keep hammering away at the public, with the word. Eventually people will come to know the word and that it means something different and more profound than naturopathy - not that I have anything against naturopaths. But it is galling when you say 'I'm a homoeopath' (slowly and clearly) and the immediate reply is 'Oh, you're a naturopath' - trust me, seeing red doesn't help. While the short term result from our efforts may not be visible, in the long term it will be worth it.

The committee have had a few ideas about promoting homoeopathy during WHAW, to maximise exposure. If you have any ideas for next year or the coming years, please contact Sally, our hard working secretary, or any committee member, for discussion at a meeting.

Book the nearest Sunday to April 10th (to be confirmed) next year to do something to promote your wonderful profession or profession-to-be. Don't miss out on Peter Tumminello's seminar coming up in July 4 - 6th. His sensitivity created a stunning seminar last time and I'm sure he will stimulate new ideas and the way we think, in us all. This is the only seminar left for this year, as we need to allow for the conference in Sydney. The AGM will be held on Sunday July 5th, so now is your chance to help out on the committee.

Seminar and Event Reviews

The "Support for Cancer Patients" Seminar with Dr A. U. Ramakrishnan
Perth, 27th & 28th February 2008

There was a big turnout for this very informative and useful seminar - and rightly so. Thirty or so of Perth's brightest and keenest Homeopaths were given plenty to go on with from one of the world's most experienced and knowledgeable Homeopaths. Dr A. U. Ramakrishnan, homeopath to thousands all over the world - including well-known political and entertainment figures, kept the entire audience laughing loud and thinking hard throughout the entire two days. He surely left all of those who attended much more capable of rendering support to people suffering from this ever increasing scourge. Many thanks to all who assisted with this notable event and made it the great success that it was.

George Kay WHAW – Homoeopathy and sport
6th April 2008

Review on WHAW by Jan Owen

On the afternoon of Sunday 6th April we celebrated WHAW with an Open Day. The theme for WHAW 2008 was Homoeopathy and Sport and the committee organised an interesting afternoon of stalls, afternoon tea and a video on the history of homoeopathy. Kate invited some local sports champs to talk to the gathering about their sport and the associated thrills and spills that they experience as a result. They explained how they use their first aid homoeopathic kits and topical rubs, creams and ointments most notably Arnica. We had several visitors including Michelle Arnould, a homoeopath who was here on a holiday from Holland.

The event was advertised broadly with a brochure explaining the use of homoeopathy for sport and fitness. We distributed these brochures through local gyms, sports clubs, health centres and sports medicine specialists. Please let the secretary know by phone or email if you have any queries or consults booked as a result of picking up and reading the brochure. This feedback helps the committee to see how their marketing efforts are going.

Thank you to Monica Dunne our seminar coordinator for organising the brochures which were distributed for WHAW and to all who participated in any way to ensure WHAW was a success.
